Abstract Submission Guidelines
Topics
We welcome quality improvement project and research abstracts on a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:
- Improved population health
- Improved care experience
- Decreased costs
- Improved workforce well-being
- Improved health equity
Abstract Structure
Abstracts are limited to 350 words. Use clear, concise language and avoid jargon to ensure accessibility to a broad audience. Please follow the structure below:
- Name, email, and organization of presenting author:
- Name(s), email(s), and organization(s) of additional author(s): Up to 6 authors can be listed. For more than 6 authors, "et al." will be used.
- Title: Provide a concise and informative title that reflects the key focus of your QI project.
- Background: Briefly describe the problem or gap in healthcare quality that your project addresses. Explain the significance of the issue and why improvement was needed.
- Aim/Objective: Clearly state the goal of your QI initiative, including specific outcomes you aimed to achieve.
- Methods: Describe the approach taken, including interventions, data collection methods, and any frameworks or models used to guide the project.
- Results: Summarize key findings, using data where applicable to demonstrate impact. Highlight improvements and any measurable changes.
- Conclusions and Lessons Learned: Reflect on the success of the initiative, challenges encountered, and key takeaways for future improvement efforts.
- Implications for Practice: Explain how the findings can be applied in healthcare settings and their potential impact on patient care, workflow, or policy.
How to Submit
To submit your abstract, please follow these steps:
- Prepare your abstract according to the structure guidelines above.
- Click the link below to access the Qualtrics form for submission.
- Fill in the required details in the form.
- Click the Submit button at the end of the form to complete your submission.
Important Dates for Abstract Submission
- March 31, 2025: Abstract submission deadline
- April 15, 2025: Abstract acceptance notifications
Abstract Acceptance Guidelines
All submissions will be reviewed by members of the symposium committee.
Preference will be given to completed projects. However, incomplete projects that are in the implementation stage and have insightful lessons to share will be considered.
Abstracts will be selected based on:
- Originality and degree of innovation
- Depth of analysis of care gap and root causes
- Clear description of methodology (e.g., Model for Improvement, Lean, Design Thinking, etc.)
- Quality of presented data
- Clear description of impact
- Potential for scale and spread
- Clarity of the abstract
Authors of accepted abstracts will be asked to provide the following:
- A 48” x 36” (landscape) poster: This will be displayed in the poster gallery during the symposium. Further guidance and requirements will be provided upon acceptance.
- The top eight abstract submissions will be selected for an oral presentation instead of a poster.
- In-Person Attendance & Registration Fee: All accepted authors are required to attend the symposium in-person and will be responsible for a registration fee. Learn more about registration fees.
- Poster Printing: Authors whose abstracts are accepted will be responsible for printing their own posters to bring onsite. Posters will not be printed on an author's behalf.
